The Federal Government has declared ‘Operation Amotekun’ as an illegal outfit.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Special Assistant, Media and Public Relations (Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice), Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu.

“The setting up of the paramilitary organization called “Amotekun” is illegal and runs contrary to the provisions of the Nigerian law,” the statement read.

The security body was recently launched by the governors of the South-West states to tackle

But the Federal Government maintained that “the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) has established the Army, Navy and Airforce, including the Police and other numerous paramilitary organisations for the purpose of the defence of Nigeria”.

According to the government, consequently, no other authority at the state level, whether the executive or legislature has the legal authority over defence.

Tthe full statement below:

Press Release on the Paramilitary Organisation named “Amotekun”

Federal Republic of Nigeria is a sovereign entity and is governed by laws meant to sustain its corporate existence as a constitutional democracy. It is a Federation of states, but with the Federal Government superintending over matters of national interests.

The division of executive and legislative authority between the Federal and State Governments has been clearly defined by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).

It is against the same background that matters relating to the peace, order and good government of the Federation and in particular, the defence of the country, are enshrined in the Exclusive Legislative List.

The Second Schedule in Item 17 deals with defence. This is a matter that is within the exclusive operational competence of the Federal of Government of Nigeria. No other authority at the state level, whether the executive or legislature has the legal authority over defence.

The setting up of the paramilitary organization called “Amotekun” is illegal and runs contrary to the provisions of the Nigerian law. The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) has established the Army, Navy and Airforce, including the Police and other numerous paramilitary organisations for the purpose of the defence of Nigeria.

As a consequence of this, no State Government, whether singly or in a group has the legal right and competence to establish any form of organization or agency for the defence of Nigeria or any of its constituent parts.

This is sanctioned by the provision of Item 45 of the Second Schedule of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) authorizing the Police and other Federal government security services established by law to maintain law and order.

The law will take its natural course in relation to excesses associated with organization, administration and participation in “Amotekun” or continuous association with it as an association.

Finally, it is important to put on record that the Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice was not consulted on the matter. If it had, proper information and guidance would have been offered to ensure that Nigeria’s defence and corporate entity are preserved at all times.

Breaking- Father Mbaka Prophecy comes to fulfillment as Supreme Court ask Gov Ihedioha to Vacate IMO State Govt. House

Never laugh against the “man of God” who claims to pass on divine revelations. That was the lesson the Supreme Court handed over Tuesday night to Emeka Ihedioha, the ousted governor of Imo state.
He had ridiculed Rev Fr. Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Ministry for predicting that the APC candidate, Hope Uzodinma will take over from him.
In his New Year prediction, Mbaka had said the APC governorship candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma, will become the governor of the state this year.
“I don’t know the manner the revelation will manifest but no prophecy has ever been declared on this prayer ground without coming to pass.
“In spite of all that would happen this 2020, there is hope. In Imo State, there is hope. Hope, hope, hope. Hope in Imo State. Imo people have suffered but God is raising a new hope that would be an agent of salvation for them.
“He is coming with a new flag to restore the dignity of that noble land. New leadership will break barriers and there would be joy in the land of Imo. Lift your candles as I bless Hope Uzodinma and I empower him spiritually to take over. How, I do not know.”
How will this manifest? How this prediction could ever come to pass, was a riddle people not familiar closely with the case could not fathom.
According to INEC, there was just no hope for Hope Uzodinma in the election as he came fourth overall behind Ihedioha, Uche Nwosu of Action Alliance, whose candidacy was invalidated by the Supreme Court, Ifeanyi Araraume of All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA). Ihedioha polled 273,404, Nwosu 190,364, Araraume, 114,676 votes and Uzodinma 96, 458 votes. A former governor of the state Ikedi Ohakim, came distant fifth on the log with 6,846votes. INEC also declared that 25,130 votes were cancelled out of total votes of 739,485.
But Uzodinma said he beat them all as his votes were cancelled in 318 units. The claim was his smoking gun that he had deployed vainly at the Governorship election Tribunal and the Appeal Court.
The Supreme Court accepted his prayer and validated the prophecy of Father Mbaka, in a stunning verdict on Tuesday, declaring Uzodinma the validly elected Governor of Imo state.
The court was of the view that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should not have excluded his votes and returned Emeka Ihedioha as the Governor of the State.
Today, the apex court has given back to Uzodinma the trophy INEC robbed him of and ordered that the votes be added and Uzodinma sworn-in as the governor of Imo state.

My Spiritual Father Is Late Akindayomi, Not Uma Ukpai- Adeboye

General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye says Dr Uma Ukpai, President of Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association Incorporated, is never his Spiritual Father as being claimed in reports on social media.
He said his spiritual father remained Late Reverend (Pa) Josiah Akindayomi, the Founder and General Superintendent of RCCG.
Adeboye was quoted in an online report suggesting that Uma Ukpai is his spiritual father.
Reacting to this, Adeboye, in a tweet said the report was simply fake news.
“This is to bring to the attention of the general public that the news circulating around the internet and social media space concerning me saying Reverend Dr Uma Ukpai is my spiritual father is very WRONG.
“Reverend Dr Uma Ukpai is one of the highly respected Generals in faith in Nigeria and he is someone I hold in high esteem.
“That being said, my Spiritual Father remains Late Reverend (Pa) Josiah Akindayomi, the Founder and General Superintendent of RCCG.
“I wish everybody a wonderful fasting season and may God keep us all in our dealings in Jesus name,” he said.

Abiodun to His Cabinets- You are under Intense Public Scrutiny

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has told his cabinet members to brace up to the responsibilities and challenges of their new offices as they are under public scrutiny.
Abiodun said this on Monday, January 13, 2020, saying that a lot of burden would be on them to live above board and be morally upright.
According to a press release e-signed and made availabile to The Voice magazine by  Somorin Kunle the Chief Press Secretary to the Ogun Governor, Abiodun charged members of the newly constituted cabinet of the State to be role models, manage expectations and join him in advancing the goals of even development across the State, as they are now public servants and not mere representatives of their towns or local governments.
The Governor said they should not be found wanting in character, as they would come under intense public scrutiny and people would want to probe every of their actions and inactions.
Prince Dapo Abiodun made these remarks in his office, at the orientation programme organised for Commissioners and Special Advisers.
He reminded his appointees that their conduct and utterances would now be thoroughly looked at differently from when they were not commissioners and special advisers, urging the cabinet members to join him as partners in progress like the civil servants who are the engine room of governance.
Abiodun stressed that as worthy partners and anchors of the bureaucratic structures upon which the programmes and policies of his administration would be built, cabinet members should forge a seamless cordial and work relationship with the civil servants which he described as dedicated, efficient and committed professionals.
His words, “You are now public servants and have joined the league of politically exposed people. Your conduct, utterances and public personality will now come under intense public scrutiny, so be guided accordingly.
“To achieve optimally, you will need to work with and regard the Ogun State public servants as partners and anchors of the bureaucratic structures required to deliver on our programmes and policies. You will find in Ogun State public servants the most dedicated, efficient and committed professionals.
“They are the inheritors of the proud legacies of the Ogun State Public Service. So, with the combination of political appointees, who are best breed and the public servants that rank top in the Country, the stage is now set for a new Ogun State of our collective dreams.”
The Governor, while describing the newly assembled Executive Council members as the most star-studded Council in the country, said that he would provide the right leadership as the captain of the team.
“This administration has arguably the most star-studded cabinet in the Country: various expertise, different backgrounds, and even various, but complementary flavours have been brought together. As the captain of this team, I want to assure you that I will provide the right leadership for you to blossom as individual stars and for our team to record achievements that are greater than the sum of individual accomplishments,” he said.
The helmsman in Ogun state added that each of the cabinet members was chosen based on their track records and on the basis that they would contribute immensely to building the future of the State.
He added that the new cabinet members must all come on board with a mindset of team work that would “generate a new and higher momentum.”
The orientation programme for the new cabinet members had retired Head of Service, Chief Dipo Odulate, Mrs. Modupe Adekunle and the Director, Code of Conduct Bureau in the State, Mr. Segun Rabiu as resource persons.

Amotekun: We Will Use Ancestors’ Powers To Defend South West ―Hunters

Operation Amotekun
As the newly launched security outfit tagged Western Nigeria Security Network (tagged: Operation Amotekun) begins operations, one of its personnel, Soludero Hunters’ Association has said the outfit doesn’t rely on guns to function well but would use their ancestors’ powers to ward off any aggression against Yoruba indigenes in the zone.

The National President of the hunters, Oba Nureni Ajijola Anabi who spoke with Vanguard said since the outfit was launched, they had resuscitated all “powers used by our ancestors to conquer their aggressors and that’s what we will use in protecting our zone”.

“We promise to be civil and law-abiding in our operations. We will never disappoint our governors who initiated the security outfit he said",

Also, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Eniitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, other prominent Yoruba kings, governors in the South-West zone, the Chairman of Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria, Prince Kehinde Adeyemo, Chairman of Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi, Prof Adebanji Akintoye, Yoruba leader, should be rest assured that Amotekun will live up to expectation.”

On the fears of Miyetti Allah that Amotekun was created against them, Ajijola who is also the Defence Minister of the RTEAN, Oyo State branch, noted that herders should not entertain any fear so far they “don’t come to our lands and be terrorising our people. We will not tolerate that any longer.

"We are not against any group provided they don’t pose threats to our lives and property”.

“Anyone who has the mind to kidnap, kill or rape our women should have a rethink. If not, we hunters in the South West will prove to them the stuff we are made of.”

“It is only the people or group who want to kill, maim, kidnap and rape our women, destroy our livelihoods that should be afraid.

“We will match them strength with strength. We can’t watch them commit atrocities on our lands. They can’t take our lands from us.

“We promise all Yorubas that they are secure anywhere in the zone because we have more than 500,000 hunters in each of the six states. We will not betray you

“As for the use of weapons, that may not be necessary. The powers of our ancestors are enough weapons. We don’t need any approved weapon to operate. It was the powers that our forefathers used to win many battles in the past. They are still very much with us. We only need to revive them.

“All of us (personnel) in hunters’ association will swear by god of iron. The meaning is that you don’t betray, else god of iron will strike.

“Recently, thunders struck in some places and we all saw the effects. We can employ the services of these deities and they will answer us speedily “We thank the governors for their courageous move to protect our people. In fact, our hunters are enough to check criminality. Our kings in the past engaged the services of hunters to protect their territories and their people were safe”, he said.
