BREAKING: ACCIDENT CLAIMS SEVEN LIVES WHILE EIGHT WERE CRITICALLY INJURED AT TOLL-GATE, OTTA, AS IRATE YOUTHS SET DANGOTE TRUCKS ABLAZE

No fewer than seven people have been confirmed dead while Eight people sustained varies degrees of injuries as Dangote truck rams into commercial bus at toll-gate on Saturday.

The truck with registration number GN 5374-26 was coming from Abeokuta to Lagos, but while descending the sloppy axis of the the truck developed a break failure which made the truck driver rams into the ongoing commercial bus popularly called "Danfo" and resulted to head collision of three other vehicles that later claimed 5People on the spot while the 6th person died on the road to hospital.

The Voice Magazine Publisher was on the spot assessment, he gathered that the accident claimed lives because of the bad portion of the road which does not enable the drivers to be able to swerve or increase the speed in order to avoid the brake failure truck.

An irate youths vent their anger by setting the truck ablaze, but with the quick intervention of the Nigeria Police Force, ably led by the Sango-Ota Divisional Police Officer, CSP Godwin Idehai with the support of Ogun State Fire Services, the fire was able to put off.

The mob which had earlier assisted TRACE operatives led by the Area Commander, Ajibade Adekunle, FRSC operatives led by the Unit Commander, Akeem Ganiyu and the police in the rescue of trapped victims of the accident got mad when an empty Dangote truck was brought to transload cement from the accident truck.

The arrival of the empty Dangote truck which coincided the removal of a woman and her three children in the same identical party dress, all dead, infuriated the mob who started throwing stones and later set the two trucks ablaze.

The corpse of the Dead persons has been deposited in Ifo mogue while the 8severely injured persons were receiving treatment at Ota General Hospital.

The paramount ruler of Ota, Oba Prof Yemi Obalanlege was equally on the accident scene to joined security agencies to control the urgly incident. The traditional ruler used the opportunity to appealed to the governments to come to the aid of his community by finding a lasting solution to Ota Toll-gate saying lives and properties lost on this road daily is too much.
The TRACE Area Commander, Ajibade Adekunle, who led his rescue team with their towing vehicle to the scene said 7 passengers, (3 children, 3 women and 1 man), trapped in the yellow commercial bus with Reg. No. 128 XP, haven been confirmed dead. He said 8 others have been taken to the hospital in Ota.
The TRACE AREA Commander gave other vehicles particulars involved in the accident as: A white Toyota Sienna with Reg. No.APP 122 CD, and Yellow bus LSR 128 XP.

He therefore advise the drivers to always check their vehicles before putting it on the road, he particularly called on the management of Dangote Group to always educate and train their drivers, the TRACE Area Commander said henceforth any truck
drivers especially Dangote truck that drive against traffic will be charged to court for prosecution.
