ILOGBO CHIEF IMAM CHIEFTAINCY TUSSLE – ONILOGBO WARN EGBA LEAGUE OF IMAMS NOT TO INTERVENE

The Onilogbo of Ilogbo-Asowo, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government area of Ogun State Oba Samuel Olufemi Ojugbele has given a strong warning to the Egba League of Imams not to meddle in the appointment of Ilogbo Chief Imam.

In a letter sent to all the Chief Security agencies in Ogun State with a copy made available to the press to caution the Chief Imam of Abeokuta to stay in his own jurisdiction and not to sponsor chaos and blood-shed in Ilogbo town and its environment.
In the letter, the Onilogbo alleged that the Chief Imam of Abeokuta came to his town on 20th of January 2020 to installed one Olayiwola Balogun as Chief Imam of Ilogbo thereby causing two parallel Chief Imams in Ilogbo-Asowo.
According to the letter, Oba Ojugbele is the prescribed authority according to Ogun State Chiefs law to appoint Chief Imam.
“After the death of the last Chief Imam of Ilogbo Central Mosque, Alhaji Imam Abdul Wasiu Oloyede (Baoku), on 1st of October 2018, a vacancy occurred in the stool and it became necessary to appoint another Chief Imam in order to fill the vacancy.
In order to fill the vacancy, the family of Edun Oyeshiku family of Iga Onilogbo Compound, Ilogbo that is entitled to make the appointment sat at a meeting presided over by the head of the family and appointed Alfa Naheem Akinola Oladotun on 13th December 2018 as the new Chief Imam of Ilogbo.
The appointment was communicated to Kabiyesi, who approved the appointment of the said Alfa Naheem Akinola Oladotun as the new Chief Imam of Ilogbo on 12th of October 2019 and issued him a certificate under the power conferred on him by the Chiefs law of Ogun State. The title of Chief Imam of Ilogbo Central Mosque is a chieftaincy traditionally associated with Ilogbo and is guided by the Chiefs Law of Ogun State.”  
The revered monarch thereby called on all the security agencies to call Egba Chief Imam and all troublemakers to desist from peddling any unrest in his town or be prepared to face the wrath of law of the nation
