5 BENUE TRAVELLERS ARRESTED BY TRACE AND SO-SAFE CORPS.

Five (5) passengers, including the driver on transit from Benue State to Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, were on Wednesday, 27th May, 2020, apprehended by operatives of TRACE and SO-SAFE Corps, at Kuto Garage, Abeokuta, by 2300hrs (11pm).


The vehicle conveying them, a Nissan Caravan Bus, white colour and with registration no. AAB 96 ZY, was intercepted because of their suspicious appearance, more so that the bus was loaded, even though they claimed they had travelled to Benue State some days back from Abeokuta to bury their late father who died of stroke.

Thw five Passengers 

The number of passengers in the bus, as at the time of interception was unknown, as some of them fled at Kuto. However, the arrested five (5) passengers were later taken to the Divisional TRACE Command, Abeokuta, where they were detained till the following morning.

On Thursday, 28th May, 2020, the Hon Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Adesanya Ayinde, were contacted by TRACE Corps Commander/Chief Executive, Cdr. 'Seni Ogunyemi, and a team from the Ministry of Health, made up of Dr. Festus Soyinka, Director Public Health/Incident Manager and Dr, Festus Adetanwa, a Public Health Physician, were assigned to carry out due-diligence test through a medical infrared thermometer to ascertain their temperature level, which is one of the Covid-19 Pandemic protocol and it was established as normal.

The names of the five (5) passengers are:

* Mr. Agbo Earnest. (Driver)
32yrs old.
A native of Benue State.
Lives in Mowe.
Temperature level: 37.0

* Mr. David Jonah James.
34 yrs old.
A native of Benue State.
Lives in Abeokuta.
Temperature level: 37.4

* Mrs. Esther Odo.
38yrs old.
A native of Benue State.
Lives in Abeokuta.
Temperature level: 37.5

* Miss. Comfort Ejeh.
15yrs old.
A native of Benue State.
Lives in Mowe.
Temperature level: 36.8

* Mr. Jonah Francis.
32yrs old.
A native of Benue State.
Lives in Abeokuta.
Temperature level: 36.2

After carrying out a thorough interrogation and investigation of the claims earlier made, which was ascertained to be true, their case was then transferred to the Ogun State Mobile Traffic Court, on the instructions of the Special Adviser on  Security, AIG Sola Subair (Rtd) for flouting the stay at home and curfew order of government and for which they were found guilty and fined Five Thousand Naira each (#5,000.00) without an option of community service.
