Lagos/Ogun Police Command, TRACE, FRSC Clears Heavy traffic Gridlock at Tollgate Border

There was a heavy traffic gridlock at the tollgate border between Lagos and Ogun state today, occasioned by the interstate travel ban and partial easing of the lockdown.


Only vehicles on essential duties and those exempted from the ban are.supposed to move in and out of the two states, but many outside these categories flouted the order against interstate travels leading to the heavy traffic gridlock.

It took the combined efforts of the Ogun state Deputy Commissioner of police A.T Abdullahi, Assistant Commissioner of police Operations, Lagos,  ACP Dotun Odubono, Chairman, Lagos Traffic and Special Offences Task Force, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, Area commander Trace, Adekunle Ajibade and Ganiyu Akeem, Unit Commander FRSC, Ota, to rejig the patrol arrangement at the border point, removing the barricades to allow those exempted to pass into the two states to and fro.

The officers stood their grounds to ensure the barricades are cleared for vehicles on essential assignments have unlettered passage.

As at the time of sending this report the vehicles have started  moving.

Speaking to journalists, DCP Abdullahi said, "we are here to free traffic and ensure those  exempted from the lockdown can move in and out of the two states.

CSP Egbeyemi, equally said,
"We came to secure the environment and ensure compliance, that's why we stationed a team of the task force at the tollgate here to back up the patrol teams of sister agencies"
