CSP YINKA EGBEYEMI, A MAN WITH A DISTINCT AMONG OFFICERS OF NIGERIA POLICE FORCE, HOW OUR PATH CROSS

By Oladele Damilola Moses
Yinka Egbeyemi is a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) and the Chairman, Lagos State Taskforce. He was formerly the ADC to the former Governor of Ogun State, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun. Yinka, voluntarily resigned as the ADC to the governor because of his personal reasons.

He was posted to served as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Sango-Ota Police division, Ogun State Police Command. When Egbon as I normally love to called him resumed as the Sango-Ota DPO, what he met on ground was nothing to write about.

CSP Egbeyemi swung to action, he renovated the division by making it an international standard. He has traveled to many countries and observed and learned the practice of police in those countries thus his first point of renovation is by renovating the cell. He said cell is not a condemned place for people. He put mattresses, he bought cutleries. He put television set with Gotv decoder there for them to watch.

His other touch is by laying the foundation of mosque and a befitting divisional headquarters. He never condoned indiscipline from his officers and his office is open 24hours. Yinka, is a detribalized police officer who believe in hard work with dignity.

I visited him on his arrival in the year 2015. He is down to earth man, ready to accommodate and listen to whoever comes to him.

Before his appointment as the ADC to governor Amosun, he was the former DPO of Ilupeju Police division, Lagos. That was when Egbon with his men trailed an armed robbers that robbed a woman of his hard earned money of 10,000 US dollar and 5000 Euro. He apprehended the robbers, recovered the stolen money and returned the cash to the owner without collecting a dime. While serving at Ilupeju, he equally renovated the division to an international standard.

Not only that Yinka Egbeyemi beautified Sango-Ota Police division, he made sure that the division is save from robbers, hooligans, cultists as he operated zero tolerance for all these social vices. On many occasions, he and his men had busted robbers, cultists in their hiding abode.

We became friends. He was appointed as the chairman of Lagos State Taskforce, Ikeja. His appoinment was a tug of war between the former governors of Ogun and Lagos States, Sen. Amosun and Mr. Ambode because Amosun didn't want him to go with Ambode because of his selfless service in Ogun State. Thank God, Amosun finally released him to go.

He was shortlisted as one of the awardees of The Voice Magazine at their fifth anniversary in the year 2016. The management wrote him through governor Ambode. The event was held at Golfview Hotels and Suite, Major General Adeyinka way, GRA, Ikeja.

Unknown to the management of DAMA MEDIA CONCEPT, PUBLISHERS OF THE VOICE MAGAZINE, CSP Yinka had sent his guys to go and verified at the hotel if such event is coming up at that venue. His confirmation made him to gave us his support.

It is on record at CSP Yinka Egbeyemi was the first person to give us huge money to organized the event. At the event, he equally gave us a substantial money.

One of his aides told him that why is he giving such amount to the young guy. His response was, God used people to also raised him to where he is today. So, it behooves on him to equally reciprocate such gesture to humanity.

Today, The Voice Magazine, has recorded many achievements, the achievements won't have be achieve if not the support of great personalities like CSP Yinka Egbeyemi.

CSP Yinka was born over four decades ago. He is an indigene of Owu, Abeokuta, Ogun State, though, he was born in Agege, Lagos State. His contributions to development of Nigeria in the area of protection of lives and properties is worth sought after.

Recently, in his human gesture, he donated food palliatives to the vulnerable and aged in Agege and it's environments. His philanthropical gesture cut across all tribes as the palliatives was distributed to all in the area.

With people like him in the force, their is hope for the country's security. Promote him to the higher rank in the force will be of a great benefit to the nation. Young and other officers should emulate him in his integrity, hard work, and selfless service to the nation.
