Residents in Ota in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Goverment Council Area woke up on Thursday morning to witness multiple accidents that left one person dead and two others crically injured.

Eye witness account informed TheCaveat.info that the accidents that occurred at various part of the council area were due to reckless driving, festive-season-rush, wrongful overtaking and brake failure.

According to an eye witness account, the accident that claimed one life happened early morning Thursday at Iju bridge  along Sango-Idiroko Road.

It occurred when a yellow Howo Sinotruk Truck, with Reg. No. MEK 609 XA drove recklessly and crushed, by wrongful overtaking,
a yellow TVS Tricycle (Marwa), with Reg No: DED 456 VD. The rider died instantly.

It was gathered that the operatives of TRACE and police rushed to the scene and took charge of the atmosphere, as well depositing the dead victim to the General Hospital Morgue, Ota.

Another scene of accidents was registered in front of Polam filling station, Iyana Cele. at Owode-Ijako Inbound Sango Ota, when an ash colour Dangote truck, marked ICT-16B-014, through brake failure, hit two cars which in turn hit other cars and invoving no fewer than five cars on the roll.

The multiple accidents led to the seriius injury of a boy and a girl who were identified as sellers of soft drinks on the road.
Other vehicles involved include a Toyota Corolla (brown color) ST 568 FB, a Nissan car (Ash color) GC 696 LND, a Honda EOD (Black color) FST 461 EH, a Toyota Sienna (Gold color) KRD 585 GD and a Fiat Truck (Blue color) KRD 119 XT.

The image maker of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Commander Babatunde Akinbiyi, while confirming the story said   other areas where minor accidents occurred within the council area are, Agbara and Sango Tollgate outbound Lagos.

In his reaction, the TRACE Corps Commander / CEO ' Seni Ogunyemi, expressed shock and disappointment over the attitude of motorists on the road leading to avoidable crashes in spite of the Corps daily traffic advices and enlightenment.

"It is regrettable that motorists failed to abide by traffic rules and regulations that usually ensure safe journey, in spite of our enlightenment programme', he said.

The Corps Commander however reiterated his earlier plea for all to take necessary caution while at wheel, avoid wrongful overtaking, haphazard parking, overspeeding and ensure proper condition of vehicles before putting them on the roads.
