The incessant  traffic jam (go-slow) experienced by motorists at Ojuore in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Council, Ogun State would soon be a thing of the past with the resolve of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) to station its operatives and other sister agencies at the axis for proper and effective control of traffic during these ‘Ember Months.

The TRACE Area Commander, Ota, Ajibade Adekunle disclosed this on behalf of the TRACE Corps Commander/CEO, ‘Seni Ogunyemi, a few minutes ago on a radio broadcast known as TRACE Half Hour on OGBS 90.5, Abeokuta.

According to Ajibade, the TRACE Corps in cooperation with other security agencies, together with the local government officials have been mandated to station their men at Oju-Ore to ensure free-flow of traffic.

He said TRACE has identified four major roads that lead to Oju-Ore round about which partly contribute to traffic jam, induced by drivers’ impatience to respect traffic rules and regulation.

“Worried about this traffic hold-up, we sat down and investigated very well the causes of serious traffic hold-up at Oju-Ore.  We discovered that there are four major roads leading to the Oju-Ore round-about and we are going to station our men there to ensure effective control and free flow of traffic.

“Other cause include street trading which hampers movement of vehicles and causes go-slow. With the cooperation of the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Council Health officers together with other sister agencies we are going to be on ground from morning till night and ensure we battle and overcome it by the grace of God”, he said.

The Area Commander further said that TRACE has increased its efforts to reduce accidents in the state through enlightenment and education of drivers and other stakeholders.

He said this is achieved by going to corporate organisations, especially industries and executives of Manufacture Association of Nigeria (MAN) for enlightenment of their drivers.

“We go to garages twice a week and motor parks every day on training and enlightenment of commercial drivers. We attend MAN meetings to train them on how to handle their drivers to drive safely on the roads, believing these would help to reduce crashes on our way.

“We also educate them on the danger in assisting smugglers; teach them on the need to ensure proper adherence to the Federal Government guidance to curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic by carrying required number of passengers and keep social distancing order, ensure usage of face masks.
