Ogun workers protest in rain over minimum wage, pension at governor's office

The Ogun State Goverment employees on Tuesday stormed the governor’s office in Oke-Mosan area of Abeokuta, to demand for abolition of the pension reform bill, payment of gratuities and new minimum wage, among others.

The Voice Magazine gathered that the workers, despite the downpour in the early hour of Tuesday, September 15, 2020, came out in large number and protested against what they described as ‘insensitivity’ of the State Governor, Dapo Abiodun.

Other agitations of the workers include an outstanding six years leave allowances, three years promotion and 134 months unpaid pension.

The workers who converged on the Arcade ground in the governor’s office were seen chanting different solidarity songs to express their displeasure over an alleged negligence by Dapo Abiodun led administration.

The workers described the recently passed Pension Reform bill as a ‘killer law’ that should be abolished.

They also demanded for the payment of the negotiated minimum wage by the end of September.

It was however, gathered that some labour leaders in the state are currently meeting with the state government to deliberate on some of the issues raised.
