OGUN COVID-19 FOOD RELIEF MEANT FOR THE POOR, VULNERABLE ONLY

It has come to the notice of the Ogun State Government that the distribution of relief packages to households is being needlessly greeted with misconceptions and misgivings, especially by elements who play politics with almost everything, even with people's lives.

Doubtlessly, the sourcing and distribution of such unprecedented quantum of relief packages by our state couldn't have proceeded without initial logistical issues, there is however no doubting the fact that the Ogun State Government is determined to tower above all the attendant challenges.

The Social media have been awashed with many videos and still images alleging that the package being distributed is one bag per street or CDA. This is untrue and deliberately spread in a bad light.

In some of the locations where the alleged one bag per street sharing took place, Ogun State Government is yet to commence the distribution of these stimulus packages.

Contrary to the rumour mills  and videos making rounds, as our distribution progresses this evening, we wish to reiterate that the underlisted are the contents that comes with each package of the stimulus:
5kg of Rice
5kg of Beans
5kg of Garri
Sachets of Tomato sauce
Sachets of Groundnut oil
Noodles and Pasta
Spices (Cubes & Others).

The above items in a package are to be distributed to INDIVIDUAL HOUSEHOLDS (NOT STREET), and 100,000 of such households are to be covered in the first tranch of the targeted 500,000 households.


We however warn that any person in the relief distribution effort found wanting or corrupting the process, will be severely sanctioned.

We also implore all CDAs,  CDCs and other stakeholders to cooperate with government officials involved in this relief efforts. Not everybody will be reached. But the poor and the vulnerable are the priority in this circumstance.

While we recognize recognize and appreciate the roles of individuals and private organisations and institutions in providing relief packages, we strongly charge that such must be done in an orderly manner that obeys the rules, especially concerning social distancing.

 Distribution of palliatives by private concerns should not in anyway compromise the health of the beneficiaries. And such should not be misconstrued as coming from the State Government.

Ogun State Government assures that it shall continue to place premium on the health, welfare and wellbeing of its residents, to ameliorate the present pains and sacrifices.
Together we shall overcome this present pandemic.

COVID-19 LOCKDOWN- How Ogun Dep. Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele Prevented Hoodlums From Hijacking, Looting Food Items Meant For Aged, Vulnerable In Ado-Odo/Ota

 On Saturday, 4th of March 2020, the deputy governor of Ogun State, Alhaja Noimot Salako-Oyedele made a stop over at Ado-Odo/Ota Local government for the on the spot assessment of the residents’ compliance with both the Federal Government and State government’s stay at home / lock down order.

Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele has frowned at the poor level of compliance by some residents of Ado Odo Ota Local Government  Area of the  state during the first day of lockdown as part of measures to combat the spread of Coronavirus pandemic in the State.

The Ogun State government has concluded plans to commence the distribution of stimulus package to homes across the state starting from tomorrow, Saturday, April 4.

Announcing the state government’s resolve to ensure that the Coronavirus pandemic is curbed, Governor Dapo Abiodun stated that the package would cushion the adverse socio-economic effects of the lockdown directive of the federal government on the people of the state.

The packages, according to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, contain staple food and essential hygiene items.

Residents of the state will be given food items, anti-bacteria soap bars, detergents and hand sanitizers which were produced by the State Ministry of Health to the World Health Organisation’ standard.

The Governor emphasised that the distribution exercise would be monitored to ensure equitable access for the people.

The purpose of the initiative, the Governor emphasised, is to make sure that the people remain well during the lockdown.

The state government said it had finalised plans with all local government transition chairmen on the distribution process.

The packages would be delivered to 500,000 homes, with an average of four persons each.

According to a statement released by the state government, the transition chairmen were expected to “organise sensitisation programmes for people within their LGAs, where they will enlighten the people, as the state government has so far done, on the symptoms and preventive measures of the coronavirus”.

“The chairmen will also ensure that everyone is aware of the pattern of distribution so that all households will be reached effectively,” the statement read.

The state government urged compliance with the ban on large gatherings saying the package would not be distributed at gatherings.

On Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered the lockdown of Lagos, Ogun and the federal capital territory with effect from 11pm on Monday, March 30, as part of efforts to limit the spread of coronavirus.

However, Abiodun said he had convinced the president on shifting the lockdown in Ogun state to Friday, April 4, 2020.

BISHOP AKIN ATERE PROFFERS REMEDY TO END COVID-19

The lord bishop of Awori Anglican Diocese, the Rt. Revd Dr J Akin Atere has proffers total humility and turning from sins as remedies to end the present pandemic that has ravage the whole world thereby putting the earth at a still.

The cleric disclosed this during his daily telecast which was monitored by The Voice Magazine, sub-editor.

Bishop Atere mentioned total humility as one of the remedies that will end this plaque. Quoting from 2 Chronicles chapter 7 verse 14, he laid emphasis on what God said in the verse, "if my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and called on Him, I, God Will hear from heaven and heal their land".

The bishop challenged everybody to use this period of Lenten season and also the 14days stay at home order by the government to go on total humility and appeal to God. He noted that some people are full of themselves, some have allowed their position and status in the society to intoxicate them to the extent that they do not regard God any longer.

The bishop of Awori diocese therefore called on all those in authority to forget their position now and humble themselves before God. In the word of the bishop, " God is our creator, our moulder, who are we to be arrogant before Him?. The present pandemic that the whole world is experiencing is due to our arrogance. Some countries are of the believe that their scientific or technological knowledge is by their own making so they believe God is not needed in their live"

Another remedies proffered by the revered cleric is for the whole world to turn from sin and return to God. The bishop said God always use plaques, famine, war to punish the people as a result of their sinful ways of life.

Bishop Atere said for this plaque to end, we must all confess our sins wholeheartedly. He said confessing of sins is not by mouth but through a broken heart. He charge the whole world to willingly and sincerely confess their sins and ask God to forgive us.

The Anglican Bishop assured the world that God is merciful and ever ready to forgive whoever faithfully confess his sins and turns to Him. He used King David in 2nd Samuel chapter 12 verse 14 as a typical example of a sincere repentance.

"Sincere repentance is a must. King David is an example of a sincere repentant person.. Another person in the Bible is a prodigical son in Luke chapter 15. So therefore, dear people of God, God require a sincere repentance from us, He want us to come back to Him, I pray as we make amendment through sincere repentance and broken heart, God will give us His Salvation and heal our land".

According to the Diocesan Media Assistant to the Bishop, Evang. Oladele Damilola Moses said the telecast is a means God is using to bring hope to the people. He said, presently, people were afraid because of this pandemic but with this daily telecast from the oracle of God who he describe God has prepared to brings salvation and hope messages to the whole world. COVID 19, AREMO BOLA OJUGBELE FOUNDATION GIVES FOOD ITEMS TO OTA COMMUNITY

As part of his contributions to help the less privilege and vulnerable people in the society to cope with an order of "Stay at Home" issued by the Federal government, the Aremo Bola Ojugbele has donated food worth of 300,000 to the people of Ota, Aworiland, Ogun State.

Distributing the food to over 200 people in ota, today, the founder of the foundation, Prince Bola Ojugbele said he decided to gives out the food to the vulnerable people who will not be able to cope with the challenges of stay at home. He said some people are subsistence living.

In his word, "We have some people, if they don't go out in a day, they will not eat, so how would they cope within 14days of government order, that is why my foundation decided to give the little we can do for now."

Aremo Foundation was established 7years ago to cater for needy and less privilege in the society. Prince Adebola Ojugbele who is the founder is the first son of Oba Samuel Ojugbele, the Onilogbo of Ilogbo-Asowo, Ogun State.

Speaking with The Voice Magazine, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Hassan said Aremo Foundation has been offering this kind gesture for over 7years. She said, they know he will definitely come to their aid at this time. She described Aremo Ojugbele as a kind hearted man who is ready to help and assist whoever comes his way.

Recall that the federal government has declared 14days "Stay at Home" order as part of the means to curtail the present Pandemic that is ravaging the whole world.

BISHOP AKIN ATERE CALLS FOR TOTAL SOBERNESS. URGE PEOPLE TO PRAY

The Lord Bishop of Awori Anglican Diocese, Ota, Ogun State, the Rt. Revd. Dr Akin Atere has called on all Nigerians and the whole world to go on their knees, confess their sins to God and ask for His forgiveness so that the anger of God will cease on the land.
