To Curb Reckless Driving on the roads, Ogun VIO needs the support of other sister agencies

The Ogun State Vehicles Inspection Officers VIO has called on other sister agencies to lens the hands of support to the Traffic Agency in order to curb reckless driving on our roads which has resulted into death of many innocent people.


According to a released from the  Ilaro Divisional Commander, Oluwatoyin Olugbenga, she appealled to other sister agencies especially the armed security forces to strictly join hands with road traffic managers to eliminate disorderliness on the road.
She expressed her dissatisfaction as road traffic crashes keep on increasing inspite of all efforts of road traffic managers to stem the ugly trend.
She said all indisciplines causing the unneding road crashes would be reduced if armed security officers could collaborate with traffic agencies to fight off the menance.
Commander Olugbenga, an engineer, said the agency would continue to intesify on utmost synergy with other sister agencies, saying it is only solution to eradicate the disobedience to traffic laws causing road crashes.
She implored all transport stakeholders to embark on training and retraining of their drivers especially those from the Northern part of the country.
She decried worrisome as almost 85 percent of the Notherners driving heavy duty vehicles are stacked illiterate that can not read, neither interpret highway codes.
According to her, this problem made them misbehaved while on steering. She said VIO would always have zero tolerance for any kind of indiscipline on the road and any erring drivers caught floating traffic rules will definitely made to face the penalty in accordance to traffic rules.
The VIO Chief, said all drivers are expected to always considered the three factors 'human, mechanical and environmental' that guaranteed safety of lives and properties on the road. She stressed that no rickety vehicles would allow to move on the road and the agency would not hesitate to prosecute anyone caught driving without valid driver's licence, original vehicle papers, overloading and proper vehicle maintenance.
She said no trucks or containers would allowed to move on the road without latching. Adding that the agency would continually work in collaboration with FRSC to ensure any container sight on the road without proper latching would definitely be apprehended and the driver be prosecuted.
She, therefore, warned the drivers especially the Notherners to shun the habit of blocking highways moment they were apprehended for contravening traffic rules.
She said it had been discovered that Northerners had derived joy in blocking the highways or causing chaos moment they were apprehended for disobedience to traffic rules.
She praised the motorists within her jusrisdiction for cooperation and duely complied to traffic rules that enable the agency recorded lowest rate of accident during the last festive period.
