It was a black saturday as two passers-by were crushed to death while another person was severely injured in a multiple accident involving two trucks and a petrol tanker at Tollgate Ota, in Ogun State.

An eyewitness account informed The Voice Magazine that the accident occurred when a containerized truck with  registration No: AAA448XJ suddenly developed brake failure, crossed to the other lane outbound Lagos.

The truck on its way had a head-on collision with a Dangote Cement truck with Reg. No. GN 7248-16 Howo and a petrol tanker with Reg. No. KSF991XF MACK outbound Lagos.

The three ill-fated trucks ended up crushing to death two male passers-by and injured another female at the scene of the accident.

Confirming the story, TRACE Area Commander, Ota, Ajibade Adekunle told The Voice Magazine that TRACE operatives and other sister agencies collectively rescued the situation.

According  to Ajibade "We took  the injured to Ota state hospital while the presumed dead were taken to Ifo mortuary".

Meanwhile efforts are still on going by the TRACE and FRSC to move the accidental vehicles  off the road and the road sides .

In his reaction, the TRACE Corps Commander / CEO ' Seni Ogunyemi said his agency has scheduled a stakeholders' meeting with trucks owners over incessant occurrence of accident caused by brake failure.

"We are going to have a very strong stakeholders meeting with trucks owners with a view to find a lasting solution to this issue of brake failure.  It is becoming too much.

"The unfortunate accident of about two days ago at this axis that claimed many lives happened through brake failure. Here is another one. Who knows what next. No it must stop", Ogunyemi said.
