Their is a saying that many were born great, greatness was thrust on many while many achieve greatness with their efforts. The latter was a replica of the life of Otunba Olumide Fidelis Akinbinu.
Otunba Olumide Akinbinu was born over 62years ago to the family of Pa. and late Mrs Akinbinu, Ondo town, Ondo State. His parents were disciplinarian. Their prayer is to see that all their children become great in life, thus, they did their best to trained and educate their children.
Late Mrs Akinbinu was a retired teacher, she instilled self esteem in all her children. May her soul rest in peace, amen.
Any moral standards you observe in the life of this foremost lawyer cum Social activist and public analyst, Otunba Olumide Akinbinu today, he inherit such from his father.
Otunba Olumide Akinbinu is the principal partner of Otunba Olumide Akinbinu & Co, a firm of legal practitioner based in Ota, Ogun State. He is a versatile scholar, legal practitioner and a public affairs analyst.
He had his elementary and tertiary education from Saint Joseph's College, Ondo and Government Technical College, Okitipupa, Ondo State. There he obtained the West African School Certificate, Federal Craft Training Certificate and City and Guilds Certificate of London with distinctions on concrete Technology and Construction. By private studies, he obtained the General Certificate of Education (Advanced level) in History, Economy and Government.
Otunba thereafter proceeded to the then University of Ife, Ile-Ife where he obtained the Bachelors Degree in History and Political Science in 1985. He partook in this Youth Service.
He searched for job briefly after his graduation. When he could not got a job, he started driving a cab as a taxi driver routing between Ijebu-Ode and Sagamu. The little money he was able to saved, he proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife where he obtained a Masters Degree in International Relations with B+(Average) in 1987.
He gained teaching employment with Ondo State Teaching Service Commission. He took his destiny into his hands by pursuing another career in law. Otunba opted for law in the same Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he obtained the LL.B(Hons) degree in Law in 1992. By 1993, he was called to Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Upon his call to Bar, he practiced Law as a pupil Counsel in the Chambers of A.O.A Obiyemi & Co of 20, Oreretu Street, Ondo, Ondo State and Olufemi Ojugbele & Co of 23, Iganmode road, Ota, Ogun State.
He thereafter set up his private legal practice as Otunba Olumide Akinbinu and co. He has since been in active practice with penchant for litigation at the Superior Court.
A quintessential Bar mam. He was the chairman of Ota Bar between 2007 and 2009. By reason of his outstanding performance as a past Chairman, he was unanimously elected for a second term as Chairman, Nigeria Bar Association, Ota Branch from 2016 to 2018.
He published the first ever edition of Ota Bar Lecture series in 2008. He was an award winner and a legal Adviser to The Voice Magazine since 2015.
He is also a member of the Nigerian Bar Association Committee on the Administration of Criminal Justice Act Domestication in Ogun State. A Christian, a father and a grandfather.
