PARTIAL CLOSURE OF KARA BRIDGE- TRACE ADVISE MOTORISTS

In view of the unfortunate multiple fatal crash involving 4 articulated vehicles in the wee hours of Sunday, 21st June, 2020, on Kara Bridge, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which resulted into a fire incident, the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing will carry out an integrity test on the bridge as part of safety engineering measures to ascertain the extent of damage on the bridge and effect prerequisite repairs on it between Saturday, 27th June, 2020-Sunday, 28th June, 2020.

Consequently, the general public, particularly the motoring public who use the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, is hereby notified that the test operation will  necessitate the  narrowing of the Ibadan bound carriageway to 2 lanes. As such, there will be traffic diversion to allow for the smooth conduct of the test.

Against this backdrop, the motoring public is by this means admonished to ply the following alternative routes:

*Lagos-Ota-Ifo-Abeokuta-Sagamu Interchange-Ibadan.
* Ikorodu-Itoikin-Ijebu/Ode-Iperu-Sagamu Interchange-Ibadan.
* V/Island-Lekki-Epe-Ijebu/Ode-Sagamu Interchange-Ibadan.

However, motorists are implored to exercise caution, maintain lane discipline, adopt common sense speed limit and cooperate with traffic managers who will be stationed at various diversion points, while using the available portion of the road, more so that the integrity test will not require the total closure of the bridge.

Nevertheless, TRACE, POLICE, FRSC and the NSCDC will be strategically positioned along the diversion  routes to regulate, control and ensure free flow of vehicular movement.

Any inconveniences is highly regretted please.

E-signed.
