#EndSARS Impasse: Sango-Otta DPO, CSP Idehai, Praises Olota, Others For Prevailing Calmness

Smarting from the harrowing narratives of the #EndSARSnow that crumbled commercial activities in the country for two weeks, a development the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) was badly hit, the Divisional Officer (DPO) of Sango-Otta Police Headquarters, CSP Godwin Idehai, has expressed appreciation to those who zealously impressed on the protesters to sheath their swords.

Idehai, in a chat with our reporter this morning, commended traditional rulers in Sango-Otta area for the magnificent roles played in bringing back normalcy after the tumultuous protests.
He said: “On behalf of the state Police Command, officers and men of the Division, I most sincerely appreciate the Olota of Otta, HRM Oba (Prof.) AbdulKabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, Onilogbo of Ilogbo, HRM Oba Samuel Olufemi Ojugbele, Onijoko of Ijoko of Ijoko, HRM Oba AbdulFatai Alani Matanmi and a host of others too numerous to mention, for proudly being in control of the situation.

“I cannot afford to underestimate the equally fantastic display of patriotism and call to order of the protesters by the Chief Imam of Sango, Alhaji Shafi, Baales and other critical key players to quell the impasse, even as I raise thumb up for the aggrieved youths for their sense of reasoning with the government and police authorities”, the DPO said.

According to him, the current prevailing relative peace was as a result of the promptness and swift adherence to the call by the state government and the Police on the traditional rulers to mediate in the imbroglio, adding that, “You’re real fathers who deserve great honour”.
Idehai, noted that he had long known the people of Sango, young and old, as very hospitable people, but lamented that the #EndSARS agitation got out of hand with the hijacking of the process by hooligans who know nothing but destruction.

He called on the youths to change their orientation about the police, saying “It is obvious that there are bad eggs within the Force as it is in all spheres, and with the ongoing Police Reform, things will definitely change for better”.

“We are brought here at different times to serve you. When we are transferred out and other people are brought, like the saying ‘Soldier go, soldier come, barracks remain’ the Station is here with you. It belongs to you”, the DPO said.
