THEME OF THE SYNOD

Prophets Speak of the mind, will and the words of God to the people and Nations, the Synod traced the functions and ministry of the prophets to divine assessor to natural life of  people

  • The spiritual life cum moral life are put side by side the verdict of God which might come as blessings or punishment
  • Prophets are courageous
  • Called divinely to serve the will of God.
  • Are known to confront the ills of the society, their austere life disposition however, does not separate them from their people as they often call the people to repentance.

Both the ruled and the ruler must have the prophets to contend with, as both social and political activist opposed to socio political injustices, tyranny and other forms of abuses.

Where are the Prophets? is a search for prophets like Amos, Isaiah, Micah and Jeremiah to mention a few who spoke against evil in their time and is a timely question, in the face of many social, political and economic matters in Nigeria.

Some prophetic ministry in our land have received critical appraisal, while foretelling, is a critical part of the prophetic ministry. A prophet must not only have message for the future, but also for the present.

While some prophets are living up to expectations today by challenging the evil of the land amidst abuses, oppression and gross injustices many others have lost focus.

The synod acknowledges and commended the efforts of some prophets who have been active on issues affecting the masses and have not been silent about it.
