ABEOKUTA: The Chairman, Joint Technical Task Team on the ease of movement of livestock, food stuff and agricultural equipments in Ogun State, CP Kenneth Ebrimson, has lauded the brilliant compliance by security operatives who are charged with the responsibility of seeing to the free movement of food-laden vehicles to avoid food scarcity.
Addressing the operatives at BAKATARI and OGERE, Obe said, “I have to commend you for your selfless service to humanity”.
He noted that the security officers were doing a good job even under the rain without raincoat or other kits.
“Permit me to remind you that the mandate is to ensure free movement of agricultural products and drugs into the state as well as making sure such vehicles do not convey more than five passengers”, Embrimson adviced.
Corroborating, the Ogun State Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), Engr G.O. Oseni, extolled the security apparatus in the state for an “improved compliance to the Federal Government directives” on interstate vehicular movement.
He equally “implored them to always avoid situations that could lure them into extorting drivers of food carrying vehicles or traders of food items, drugs, agricultural and allied items”.
Also, Prince Ogunjimi, the secretary of All Farmers Association of Ogun State thanked the security officers for maintaining a frontliner position in combating Covid-19 pandemic.
On his part, the secretary of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) Akinpelu chapel, Comrade Taofeek Ogunbayo, advised the officers to continue performing their statutory duties toward maintaining hitch free transportation of food items into the state as long as the COVID-19 lasted.
